Watchman: God's answer to Sidon

22nd October 2010, hej

If it is remarkable that a stone slated to be thrown by Iran's leader at Israel, was prefigured long ago in the Scripture, be amazed at the reply given to the words hurled at Israel

Developments: Answering Ahmadinejad & Sidon

Though it seems no stone was thrown, the Iranian leader threw some words from Lebanon. He called for the destruction of the Zionist entity.

"Today the resistance in Lebanon has become an example to the resistance of all the nations," Ahmadinejad told the crowd to cheers, lashing out at "Zionists" in Israel who he said would soon be forced to "admit defeat". "Resistance is the key of victory to the Lebanese nation and all the nations in the region," Ahmadinejad said guardian.co.uk/
AFP reported "The whole world knows that the Zionists are going to disappear," he said to thunderous applause before a frenzied crowd in Hezbollah's bastion of Bint Jbeil, some four kilometres (two miles) from the Israeli border. "The occupying Zionists today have no choice but to accept reality and go back to their countries of origin," he added.

It cannot be said that Israel's leadership stood up and strongly answered. AFP reported Israel's leader's response

"The best response to the hateful verbal aggression from across the border was given here 62 years ago," Benjamin Netanyahu said in Tel Aviv, referring to Israel's creation in 1948.

It is, perhaps, a non-answer to say that Israel exists. The point is that according to the intent of Lebanese "resistance" Israel is to disappear.

The Iranian president is expressing popular feeling of those now dominant in Lebanon, who dominate by instilling fear. The Iranian president speaks together with his Lebanese 'counterpart',

"We fully support the resistance of the Lebanese people against the Zionist regime and we want full liberation of occupied territory in Lebanon, Syria and Palestine," the hardline leader said in a joint press conference with his Lebanese counterpart Michel Sleiman. timesofindia

Blue and white balloons were sent to Lebanon in a protest organised by Ayoub Kara MK (who is not Jewish). But they seem a rather inadequate response. Kara said,

“The balloons represent the fact that the Jewish people have come home after 2,000 years of exile, and they are not going anywhere.” Israelnationalnews

Balloons are ephemeral, implying Israel might be ephemeral. Even ancient nations may vanish. The Edomites are nowhere to be found despite the fact their nation endured from ancient times until the Roman era. In such a way the young nations of Syria or Jordan, or Lebanon itself may vanish if another such as the Ottomans arose. Lebanon even now points to how a nation may lose its independence, as the Northern majority are being silenced.

Lebanon is divided. It is the South Lebanon greater area, which has as its capital Sidon, where Hezbollah has become the dominant force, and the region from where war is being prepared against Israel. There,

Following a meeting for its members chaired by Sidon MP Fouad Siniora on Tuesday, the Future bloc welcomed the visit
“It comes in line with enhancing Lebanese-Iranian ties based on friendship between the Lebanese and Iranian peoples and on the basis of complete respect for the sovereignty and independence of the two friendly states and in commitment to United Nations resolutions,” Beirut MP Ammar Houri said while reading the statement issued by the bloc. dailystar.com.lb (The Daily Star: Lebanon News)

This implies that those of Sidon feel the United Nations is in agreement with their collusion-al desire to eliminate Israel.

Who has answered Sidon and the 'frenzied crowds' of the region of South Lebanon?

The answer comes from the past.

When the Assyrian forces were in the ascent, their leaders conquered apostate Israel and approached Jerusalem and hurled insults. At that time the wise leader Hezekiah told the people that none were to answer the insults.  Some of the insults by the inventive Rab-shakeh were far more imaginative than Iran's leader could think up,

Now therefore, I pray thee, give pledges to my lord the king of Assyria, and I will deliver you two thousand horses, if you be able on your part to set riders upon them. (2Kings 18:23)

And even more creatively,

The LORD said unto me: Go up against this land, destroy it.' (2Kings 18:25)

And descending to a very base level,

'Has my master sent me to your master, and to you, to speak these words? has he not sent me to the men that sit on the wall, to eat their own dung, and to drink their own water with you?' (2Kings 18:27)

He continued to the heart of the matter, the same matter then as now,

Has any of the gods of the nations ever delivered his land out of the hand of the king of Assyria? Where are the gods of Hamath, and of Arpad? where are the gods of Sepharvaim, of Hena, and Ivvah? have they delivered Samaria out of my hand? Who are they among all the gods of the countries, that have delivered their country out of my hand, that the LORD should deliver Jerusalem out of my hand?'

But the people held their peace, and answered him not a word; for the king's commandment was, saying: 'Answer him not.' (2Kings 18:33-36)

Hezekiah had faith. There was only One who could give the answer!

A strong answer was given, from no less than the God of Israel. It would have given indigestion to those who read it .... Some highlights,

The daughter of Zion has despised you and laughed you to scorn; ... Whom have you taunted and blasphemed? and against whom have you exalted your voice? Yea, you have lifted up thine eyes on high, even against the Holy One of Israel! By the messengers thou hast taunted the Lord, and hast said: With the multitude of my chariots am I come up to the height of the mountains, to the innermost parts of Lebanon; and I have cut down the tall cedars thereof,
. Have you not heard? long ago I made it, in ancient times I fashioned it; now have I brought it to pass, yea, it is done; that fortified cities should be laid waste into ruinous heaps. Therefore their inhabitants were of small power, they were dismayed and confounded; they were as the grass of the field,..
But I know your sitting down, and your going out, and thy coming in, and your raging against Me. Because of your raging against Me, and for that your tumult is come up into Mine ears, therefore will I put My hook in thy nose, and My bridle in your lips, and I will turn you back by the way by which you came (2Kings 19:21-28)

Rab-shakeh was turned back and his army of 145,000 was reduced, as, one day, "when they arose early in the morning, behold, they were all dead corpses." (Isaiah 37:36).

The answer to Sidon

That was back then, and the answer to Assyria had much merit, but in addition another answer entirely has been prepared to Sidon for today- in detail.

Son of man, set your face against Sidon, and prophesy against it, And say, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I am against thee, O Zidon; and I will be glorified in the midst of you: and they shall know that I am the LORD, when I shall have executed judgments in her, and shall be sanctified in her.
For I will send into her pestilence, and blood into her streets; and the wounded shall be judged in the midst of her by the sword upon her on every side; and they shall know that I am the LORD.
And there shall be no more a pricking brier unto the house of Israel, nor any grieving thorn of all that are round about them, that despised them; and they shall know that I am the Lord GOD.
Thus saith the Lord GOD; When I shall have gathered the house of Israel from the people among whom they are scattered, and shall be sanctified in them in the sight of the heathen (nations), then shall they dwell in their land that I have given to my servant Jacob. And they shall dwell safely therein, and shall build houses, and plant vineyards; yea, they shall dwell with confidence, when I have executed judgments upon all those that despise them round about them; and they shall know that I am the LORD their God. (Ezekiel 28:21-26)

This rather covers the matter under contention in Sidon: "the land I have given my servant Jacob."

What more needs to be said?

Before Iran's leader came to Lebanon, before those of Sidon (the head of all of South Lebanon) were 'refugees' from Jordan, before modern Israel was a nation, before Iran emerged from Persia, it was foreseen that Sidon, in particular,  would be for some time a thorn in the side to Israel and a problem to those other Arabs about them.

Is not this true to the last word of the detail? Is not the issue today, right now, the land given to Jacob? Is not the issue raised by those in Sidon the very one of Jews returning from the nations? Is not the issue now that the nations wish to stop Israel building houses?

Go and look! Before Sidon spoke, before they invited Ahmadinejad to be their mouthpiece, the answer was already given. And it's even been liberally distributed worldwide, even in Farsi and Arabic by the reducing numbers of Christians in Iran and Lebanon.

Will Israel (Zionists) disappear? Will the people return to dispersion? Is the (heathen) nation's 'resistance' (including the resistance of the UN) of any use? The answer was not given in 1948, it was given some time before 571BCE! It is clear,

Particularly the core section:

When I shall have gathered the house of Israel from the people among whom they are scattered, and shall be sanctified in them in the sight of the nations, then shall they dwell in their land that I have given to my servant Jacob. And they shall dwell safely therein, and shall build houses,

If we go and look the land given to Jacob was promised at Bethel. Bethel is now called by the nations 'occupied', the 'West Bank', and is part of the internationally disputed territory! Yet Ezekiel declares after Sidon speaks and is punished by their blood in their streets - Jews shall build houses and dwell safely in the region of Bethel. Bethel was called the 'gate of El', should it be given to those who call the Mighty One of Israel a liar?

Sidon has been a thorn to Israel, and Israel has slowly and painfully learnt, as it did in the days the of the Judges, that they must rely on the God of Israel. Events now are coming to a point, as the rhetoric from Sidon is now strong and very pointed. The answer given in the Scriptures is clear; Sidon will be judged.

For those who watch, we are given to see these stirring events where Ezekiel's words are now, in the the latter days, being played out before our eyes. For many years there was an event here or there, but now, those who watch must be awake, for a leader of the nations speaks and Yahweh Elohim answers with words penned by the prophets.

For more of throwing stones.

Watchman what of the night? Stone throwing Pt 5

The events in the Middle East are now coming with such frequency that it seems we are indeed seeing the sands run in what little time there is left. A stone was slated to be thrown by Iran's leader at Israel, but it was prefigured long ago in the Scripture.

Myrtus, Myrtle trees & Persia

Quite a few sources are linking references to the Bible to the recent exposure of the computer 'worm' or 'virus' Stuxnet in June and its particular effect recently on systems in Iran, where on the 1st of October 2010 it is reported the damage is so great the Iranian president is vowing revenge on the US and Israel (Debkafile) . Several sources note that analysts have found a file path name with “myrtus” and “guava” both references to the myrtle tree (Glick, Aruntz Sheva.)
