Righteousness of God

4) The King who reigns in Righteousness

Isaiah prophesies of a King who will reign in righteousness and princes who will judge righteously.

Behold, a king shall reign in righteousness, and princes shall rule in judgement.(Isaiah 32:1)

Jeremiah gives a time setting and affirms that there will be king of righteousness ruling on the earth.

At a time when the Israelites have been scattered and are regathered into their land, there will come peace and justice on earth.

Woe be unto the pastors that destroy and scatter the sheep of my pasture! said the LORD. Therefore thus said the LORD God of Israel against the pastors that feed my people; Ye have scattered my flock, and driven them away, and have not visited them: behold, I will visit upon you the evil of your doings, said the LORD.
And I will gather the remnant of my flock out of all countries whither I have driven them, and will bring them again to their folds; and they shall be fruitful and increase. And I will set up shepherds over them which shall feed them: and they shall fear no more, nor be dismayed, neither shall they be lacking, said the LORD.
Behold, the days come, said the LORD, that I will raise unto David a righteous Branch, and a King shall reign and prosper, and shall execute judgement and justice in the earth. In his days Judah shall be saved, and Israel shall dwell safely: and this is his name whereby he shall be called, THE LORD OUR RIGHTEOUSNESS. (Jeremiah 23:1-6)

Who is this King of righteousness?

And, behold, you shall conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shall call his name JESUS (Y'shua). He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest: and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David: And he shall reign over the house of Jacob for ever; and of his kingdom there shall be no end. (Luke 1:31-33)

And,

But unto the Son he saith, Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever: a sceptre of righteousness is the sceptre of thy kingdom. You have loved righteousness, and hated iniquity; therefore God, even thy God, hath anointed thee with the oil of gladness above thy fellows. (Hebrews 1:8-9)

The quotation from Leviticus used earlier sums up the righteousness of God. Yahweh is holy and those who wish to be servants of Yahweh must strive to be obedient to God's will and reflect his character and that of of his Son, Y'shua. It is then that they escape from the judgment to come and have the sure hope of life everlasting and a place in the Kingdom of God as His precious people.

That the residue of men might seek after the Lord, and all the Gentiles, upon whom my name is called, said the Lord, who does all these things. (Acts 15: 13-17)
And ye shall be holy unto me: for I the LORD am holy,
and have severed you from other people, that ye should be mine. (Leviticus 20:26)
