There are many excitable people who seem stirred up by all sorts of things. It is said of many that they are inspired. However having read history and much literature, I have found that only the words of God in the Bible are a fire in the heart.
The prophet Jeremiah was told by Yahweh Elohim of hosts / armies, “Because ye speak this word, behold, I will make my words in thy mouth fire, and this people wood, and it shall devour them.” (Jeremiah 5:14)
Some may argue about sport, or theories, or politics, but it may be guaranteed that we may spark the fire of animated argument when it comes to the truth of the Bible. There are whole cultural movements to deny the Bible, as if a scream of protest against the words of the God of the Bible.
On the other hand people find in the words of the God of the Bible such great power and fire that they can endure much and over come even addictions. Jeremiah was faced with certain death if he spoke out, yet he said the words are such a fire in the heart, he could not stop from speaking.
Then I said, I will not make mention of him, nor speak any more in his name. But his word was in mine heart as a burning fire shut up in my bones, and I was weary with forbearing, and I could not stay. (Jeremiah 20:9)
Every other '-ism' and established religion compared to the true word of the Bible is boring conformity. You know you have found the truth of the Bible when it is a fire in the heart and when it breaks the rock of our own stubborn hearts.
The prophet that hath a dream, let him tell a dream; and he that hath my word, let him speak my word faithfully. What is the chaff to the wheat? saith the LORD. Is not my word like as a fire? saith the LORD; and like a hammer that breaketh the rock in pieces? (Jeremiah 23:28-29)
Natural fires in the world can do many things. If a fire is out of control it can destroy. If they are controlled in combustion engines they can move mountains. If a fire is contained in an oven it can feed multitudes, or make bricks and tiles. A hammer is needed to break rock to make stone buildings. We can be sure that Yahweh Elohim knows how to make the fire of his word powerful to do meaningful work in peoples lives, but for those who wish to fight the God of truth – they take on a fire that consumes them, and a hammer that breaks them.
The fire of Yahweh Elohim, to those who love Him, is their comfort and warmth in a cold world. It is more: Jeremiah says that the fire of the word is the rejoicing of his heart. If we rejoice and love justice, mercy and truth, we love the Judgment of Yahweh Elohim – He Who Will be shown forth in Mighty Ones, as Jeremiah.
Thy words were found, and I did eat them; and thy word was unto me the joy and rejoicing of mine heart: for I am called by thy name, O LORD God of hosts. (Jeremiah 15:16)
