No Greater Joy

15th August 2022, hej

I recently heard of the rejoicing of those at the baptism of a girl named Abigail, a name that means father turns about, dances or rejoices. Recently I had been reminded that the Apostle John had written that he had no greater joy than in hearing that his children walked in truth.

I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth. (3 John 1:4)

As servants and friends (John 15:14) of Christ, if we keep his commands was are as brethren (Luke 18:21) and as John says sons of God.

But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: (John 1:12)

We might persuade others to keep God's commands due to the fear of judgement, but perhaps this proud generation has no fear, but their own terrors. We might also point out that the proud rebellious fools of this disrespectful generation are missing out on the biggest blessing of all – basking in the beauty and substantial benefits of God's love.

They do not value pleasing their parents and wonder in bitter loneliness why they cannot find any of their own self-loving (self-hating) generation to love their self-loathing being.

The Apostle John shows us the rightness of the whole system of people keeping God's laws and how there can be absolute selfless joy in seeing others selflessly keeping Gods laws as we do. This pattern is respected and repeated in the heavens as the Angels (Elohim Mighty Ones) also rejoice, as our Creator, He Who Will Be (Yahweh) rejoices. Christ said it directly,

I say unto you, that likewise joy shall be in heaven over one sinner that repenteth, more than over ninety and nine just persons, which need no repentance. (Luke 15:7)

When people depart from the right way it causes distress in all of Heaven,

Now the just shall live by faith: but if any man draw back, my soul shall have no pleasure in him (Heb 10:38)

By contrast when the Angelic beings see people walking in right ways and seeking truth they are like John, who had no greater joy. There is pleasure given to the Great Power of the Universe.

Yahweh taketh pleasure in them that fear him, in those that hope in his mercy. (Psa 147:11)

Just pause and imagine it! The doubter Eliphaz did not know what he was talking about when speaking to Job (22:2) saying that it is not a concern of God if we do right or wrong. The heavens please Him as the angelic beings do right.

Bless the LORD, ye his angels, that excel in strength, that do his commandments, hearkening unto the voice of his word. Bless ye the LORD, all ye his hosts; ye ministers of his, that do his pleasure. (Psalm 103:20-21)

Not only in heaven but on earth. When people keep Yahweh Elohims right laws, they become his people and he gives them a great reward – that of the beauty of salvation.

For the LORD taketh pleasure in his people: he will beautify the meek with salvation. (Psa 149:4)

It is not yet seen but those who love God laws have no greater joy in seeing also others doing right and good in keeping the unpopular rejected laws of Yahweh Elohim, are yet to see even greater joy.

Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not. Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is. (1Jn 3:1-2)
