Amorite Prophecy: is it for the Last Days?

26th September 2021, mgh

There is an interesting short prophecy related to the Amorites, who are frequently mentioned in conjunction with the other heathen nations that troubled the nation of Israel throughout their history. This Prophecy could have an important significance for us today and is referred to in Yahweh’s promises to Abraham in Genesis 15.

And he said unto Abram, Know of a surety that thy seed shall be a stranger in a land that is not theirs, and shall serve them; and they shall afflict them four hundred years; And also that nation, whom they shall serve, will I judge: and afterward shall they come out with great substance. Gen 15:13-14

This is the prophecy of their sojourning in Egypt, their growth and miraculous escape from the oppression of the Egyptians. After the fourth generation however, the Amorites’ iniquity is a symbol of what was to play a part in the shaping of and challenges that Israel were to undergo. The “iniquity” of the Amorites over the centuries and even up to today is still widespread. I believe that we will see the ultimate fruition and ugliness of that iniquity world wide.

And thou (Abraham) shalt go to thy fathers in peace; thou shalt be buried in a good old age. But in the fourth generation they shall come hither again: for the iniquity of the Amorites is not yet full. (Genesis 15:15-16 (KJV)

Let us pause here and return to Exodus 20 and to the two most important Commands given to the people of Israel and the ones that they repeatedly disobeyed.

Thou shalt have no other gods before me.
Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth: Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I Yahweh thy Elohim am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me; (Exodus 20:3-5 )

The same commands were given to the followers of the Messiah.

Behold, a certain lawyer stood up, and tempted him, saying, Master, what shall I do to inherit eternal life? He said unto him, What is written in the law? how readest thou? And he answering said, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind; and thy neighbour as thyself. And he said unto him, Thou hast answered right: this do, and thou shalt live. (Luke 10:25-28 )

Love and reverence for Yahweh and the rejection of idolatry were principles essential in the lives of the people of Israel and also the Christians. When Israel entered the promised land their faith and obedience would be tested. When they entered the promised land under Joshua they were obedient to the command that they were given to drive out the Amorites.

Israel took all these cities: and Israel dwelt in all the cities of the Amorites, in Heshbon, and in all the villages thereof. even unto Nophah, which reacheth unto Medeba. ...Thus Israel dwelt in the land of the Amorites…. and drove out the Amorites that were there. (Numbers 21:25-26, 31-32
The following account in Deuteronomy gives a command, a reason and warning for the need to drive out the Amorites. The abominations of these nations were not to be adopted by the Israelites. They are also given an assurance of Yahweh’s protection as in the miracles of their escape from Egypt.
Thou shalt utterly destroy them; namely, the Hittites, and the Amorites, the Canaanites, and the Perizzites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites; as Yahweh thy God hath commanded thee: That they teach you not to do after all their abominations, which they have done unto their gods; so should ye sin against Yahweh your God. (Deuteronomy 20:17-18)

Then I said unto you, Dread not, neither be afraid of them. Yahweh your God which goeth before you, he shall fight for you, according to all that he did for you in Egypt before your eyes; And in the wilderness, where thou hast seen how that Yahweh thy God bare thee, as a man doth bear his son, in all the way that ye went, until ye came into this place. Yet in this thing ye did not believe the LORD your God, (Deuteronomy 1:29-32 )

Joshua warned the Jews of the choice which was before them and the choices which determined their destiny. The people at that time acknowledged that they would fear and serve Yahweh.

I brought you into the land of the Amorites, which dwelt on the other side Jordan; and they fought with you: and I gave them into your hand, that ye might possess their land; and I destroyed them from before you…. And ye went over Jordan, and came unto Jericho: and the men of Jericho fought against you, the Amorites, and the Perizzites, and the Canaanites, and the Hittites, and the Girgashites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites; and I delivered them into your hand. And I sent the hornet before you, which drave them out from before you, even the two kings of the Amorites; but not with thy sword, nor with thy bow. And I have given you land for which ye did not labour, and cities which ye built not, and ye dwell in them ... serve Yahweh in sincerity and in truth: and put away the gods which your fathers served on the other side of the flood, and in Egypt; and serve Yahweh.
And if it seem evil unto you to serve Yahweh, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve Yahweh. And the people answered and said, God forbid that we should forsake Yahweh, to serve other gods; For Yahweh our God, he it is that brought us up and our fathers out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage, and which did those great signs in our sight, and preserved us in all the way wherein we went, and among all the people through whom we passed: And Yahweh drave out from before us all the people, even the Amorites which dwelt in the land: therefore will we also serve Yahweh; for he is our God. (Joshua 24:8-18)

When they failed to drive out all the Amorites and Yahweh’s anger was kindled to the extent that,

he: sent a prophet unto the children of Israel, which said unto them,

Thus saith Yahweh God of Israel, I brought you up from Egypt, and brought you forth out of the house of bondage; And I delivered you out of the hand of the Egyptians, and out of the hand of all that oppressed you, and drave them out from before you, and gave you their land; And I said unto you, I am Yahweh your God; fear not the gods of the Amorites:... but ye have not obeyed my voice. (Judges 6:8-10)

Israel failed to take the land and were forced into a conflict by which they possessed all the land of the Amorites.

Sihon trusted not Israel to pass through his coast: but Sihon gathered all his people together, and pitched in Jahaz, and fought against Israel. And Yahweh God of Israel delivered Sihon and all his people into the hand of Israel, and they smote them: so Israel possessed all the land of the Amorites, the inhabitants of that country. And they possessed all the coasts of the Amorites, from Arnon even unto Jabbok, and from the wilderness even unto Jordan. Yahweh God of Israel hath dispossessed the Amorites from before his people Israel, and shouldest thou possess it? (Judges 11:20-23 )

During the time of Samuel and David there was peace between Israel and the Amorites and

the people that were left of the Hittites, the Amorites, the Perizzites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites, which were not of Israel, “But of their children, who were left after them in the land, whom the children of Israel consumed not, them did Solomon make to pay tribute (II Chronicles 8:7-8)”

Biblical records show the inhumane practices of Idolatry that developed and its influences on Israel.

Twenty years old was Ahaz when he began to reign, and reigned sixteen years in Jerusalem, and did not that which was right in the sight of Yahweh his God, like David ... and walked in the way of the kings of Israel, yea, and made his son to pass through the fire, according to the abominations of the heathen, whom Yahweh cast out from before the children of Israel. (II Kings 16:2-3 )...
and made also molten images for Baalim. Moreover he burnt incense in the valley of the son of Hinnom, and burnt his children in the fire, after the abominations of the heathen whom Yahweh had cast out before the children of Israel. (II Chronicles 28:12-3)
Howbeit every nation made gods of their own, and put them in the houses of the high places which the Samaritans had made, every nation in their cities wherein they dwelt. And the men of Babylon made Succoth–benoth, and the men of Cuth made Nergal, and the men of Hamath made Ashima, And the Avites made Nibhaz and Tartak, and the Sepharvites burnt their children in fire to Adrammelech and Anammelech, the gods of Sepharvaim. (II Kings 17:29-31)
And he (Manasseh) did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD, after the abominations of the heathen, whom the LORD cast out before the children of Israel. For he built up again the high places which Hezekiah his father had destroyed; and he reared up altars for Baal, and made a grove, as did Ahab king of Israel; and worshipped all the host of heaven, and served them. And he built altars in the house of the LORD, of which the LORD said, In Jerusalem will I put my name. And he built altars for all the host of heaven in the two courts of the house of the LORD. And he made his son pass through the fire, and observed times, and used enchantments, and dealt with familiar spirits and wizards: he wrought much wickedness in the sight of the LORD, to provoke him to anger. And he set a graven image of the grove that he had made in the house, of which Yahweh said to David, and to Solomon his son, In this house, and in Jerusalem, which I have chosen out of all tribes of Israel, will I put my name for ever: (II Kings 21:2-7)
Because Manasseh king of Judah hath done these abominations, and hath done wickedly above all that the Amorites did, which were before him, and hath made Judah also to sin with his idols: Therefore thus saith Yahweh God of Israel, Behold, I am bringing such evil upon Jerusalem and Judah, that whosoever heareth of it, both his ears shall tingle. (II Kings 21:11-12 )

The Psalmist considered the influence of idolatry and concludes:

They did not destroy the nations, concerning whom Yahweh commanded them: But were mingled among the heathen, and learned their works. And they served their idols: which were a snare unto them. Yea, they sacrificed their sons and their daughters unto devils, And shed innocent blood, even the blood of their sons and of their daughters, whom they sacrificed unto the idols of Canaan: and the land was polluted with blood. Thus were they defiled with their own works, and went a whoring with their own inventions. (Psalms 106:34-39 )

Ezekiel Laments the decline of the state of Israel:

Moreover thou hast taken thy sons and thy daughters, whom thou hast borne unto me, and these hast thou sacrificed unto them to be devoured. Is this of thy whoredoms a small matter, That thou hast slain my children, and delivered them to cause them to pass through the fire for them? (Ezekiel 16:20-21 )
herefore, O harlot, hear the word of the LORD: Thus saith the Lord Yahweh; Because thy filthiness was poured out, and thy nakedness discovered through thy whoredoms with thy lovers, and with all the idols of thy abominations, and by the blood of thy children, which thou didst give unto them; (Ezekiel 16:35-36)

And Judgement that was to come upon them

Wherefore I poured my fury upon them for the blood that they had shed upon the land, and for their idols wherewith they had polluted it: And I scattered them among the heathen, and they were dispersed through the countries: according to their way and according to their doings I judged them. (Ezekiel 36:18-19)

Hosea considers Baal worship and Idolatry

When Ephraim spake trembling, he exalted himself in Israel; but when he offended in Baal, he died. And now they sin more and more, and have made them molten images of their silver, and idols according to their own understanding, all of it the work of the craftsmen: they say of them, Let the men that sacrifice kiss the calves. (Hosea 13:1-2)

Ezra Knows the result of the relationship with idolatrous nations

Now when these things were done, the princes came to me, saying, The people of Israel, and the priests, and the Levites, have not separated themselves from the people of the lands, doing according to their abominations, even of the Canaanites, the Hittites, the Perizzites, the Jebusites, the Ammonites, the Moabites, the Egyptians, and the Amorites. For they have taken of their daughters for themselves, and for their sons: so that the holy seed have mingled themselves with the people of those lands: yea, the hand of the princes and rulers hath been chief in this trespass. And when I heard this thing, I rent my garment and my mantle, and plucked off the hair of my head and of my beard, and sat down astonied. (Ezra 9:1-3 )

Iniquity of the Amorites is not yet full

It seems that Abraham was told that the iniquity of the Amorites was not full or complete as the examples given of the development of the nature of baal worship show an extension of the torture, corruption and cruelty of the people and the evil of their practices. This satanic and idolatrous behaviour still exists and is widely hidden in the depths of the earth. With the technology available today it is possible that it has reached levels beyond our comprehension and understanding. In Donald Trump’s presidency there was a beginning of concern for children who disappeared and went missing in the USA, and the suspected child trafficking led to Trump’s search for truth about disappearing children. Some victims of child abuse began to speak out with fear but knew their stories needed to be told and there was for them the need to be protected as they were no longer safe.

Is the iniquity of the Amorites “full” and reaching a point where the God of Israel will allow it to be exposed?

The Christians were given the same message as the Jews that the practices of the Amorites and heathen nations was an abomination in the eyes of the Creator and not to be tolerated.

But that we write unto them, that they abstain from pollutions of idols, and from fornication, and from things strangled, and from blood. For Moses of old time hath in every city them that preach him, being read in the synagogues every sabbath day...That ye abstain from meats offered to idols, and from blood, and from things strangled, and from fornication: from which if ye keep yourselves, ye shall do well. (Acts 15:20-21, 29 )

Light versus Darkness

Donald Trump did not concede as there was strong evidence that he had been successful and which we do not detail here. On the other side, the Left, their policies were in complete contrast and stood for the attempt to destroy the worship of God and wipe all memory of history from the minds of the people through their cancel culture and re-education and indoctrination of the people. Their ultimate aim was to bring the people into subjection, reduce the population and create a communist type of government.

Under Trump the Constitution would continue to be adhered to with its concept of “one” nation under God, freedom of worship, which the Founding Fathers embraced and enshrined in the Constitution and recognition of the state of Israel, with Jerusalem as as its capital.

I believe, with Sidney Powell, that this conflict is Biblical in magnitude and also that it embraces Biblical principles that are required of the faithful and are captured in those words revealed to Abraham “the iniquity of the Amorites is not yet full.” Are we about to see the fulfilment and iniquity of idolatry in all its evil and wickedness? Has the role of the theory of Evolution reached the point where man clearly denies the Creator and attempts to manipulate with DNA and clone?

When one considers the strong evidence of child trafficking and children disappearing and the policies of the left, there is a combination of factors to awaken suspicion of things that are sinister and not in conformity with the traditional values of the USA where Jews and Christians were able to find a safe sanctuary and freedom from the persecution which they had endured for centuries. Donald Trump has continued to work with many dedicated people in many spheres to save the country and people he loves from the destruction which the left’s policies would bring to the nation.

I believe that the days are close when we will see the hand of the God of Israel at work, and realise the comfort of the following a message from the New Testament for today? May the twenty days of prayer be heard.

Fear them not therefore: for there is nothing covered, that shall not be revealed; and hid, that shall not be known. What I tell you in darkness, that speak ye in light: and what ye hear in the ear, that preach ye upon the housetops. (Matthew 10:26-27)
