Prophecy: Egypt’s American Aid to Buy Russian Arms?

25th December 2020, hej

Recently the President of the United States Donald Trump had cause to reject, in scathing terms, a ‘porkulus’ spending bill forwarded from the House and Senate. Among many undiplomatic statements, the one regarding Egypt’s spending American aid on Russian arms should cause all pause for thought: this points to the time of the end.

There is a specific prophecy where we can know we are in the “time of the end” – the days of the final stand of the image of the nations in succession shown to Nebuchadnezzar, before the ‘stone’ kingdom of Christ, Messiah or the Anointed king priest who is to reign forever. It names Egypt specifically. We are told

And at the time of the end shall the king of the south push at him (the power of the Middle East which for centuries was the Islamic powers):
and the king of the north shall come against him (the Middle East) like a whirlwind, with chariots, and with horsemen, and with many ships; and he shall enter into the countries, and shall overflow and pass over. He shall enter also into the glorious land (Israel), and many countries shall be overthrown: but these shall escape out of his hand, even Edom, and Moab, and the chief of the children of Ammon. He shall stretch forth his hand also upon the countries: and the land of Egypt shall not escape.
But he shall have power over the treasures of gold and of silver, and over all the precious things of Egypt: and the Libyans and the Ethiopians shall be at his steps. (Daniel 11:40-43)

Many may argue as to the identity of “him”, but consider the context that the “him” includes many countries, including Israel and Edom, Ammon and Moab the last 3 of which are all in Modern Jordan. Historically the King of the South, famously led by Cleopatra of the Ptolemy’s, was based in Egypt. The historic king of the South ceased to exist when the whole area was subjugated to Islam. It was revived as Egypt gained some form of independence from the Ottomans from 1805. The succeeding great power in Egypt was the British.

The time of the end was to be known for ‘travel to and fro’ (Daniel 12:4). The era of travel ‘to and fro’ began famously in 1845 with Thomas Cook’s first tour abroad. Britain was the power of the king of the South and became the defacto ruler occupier of Egypt from 1882- 1952, at the same time cars and flight emerged from 1885-1905. It was from Egypt that the British and Commonwealth launched the most dramatic wartime ‘Push’ against the Ottomans, including the last cavalry charge, that led to the end of the Ottoman power in the era from 1918 -1922. This ‘push’ was so dramatic it changed the map. Do we look for another great ‘push’ or do we note the prophecy speaks then of Egypt – and no longer mentions the King of the South?

Egypt is not the place or the 'him' that the king of the North invades. It says rather that the King of the North shall put his hand to Egypt. Not only does the King of the South not exist, the King of the North does not specifically invade Egypt, rather it’s an overflow and passing over. Until 1952 for the King of the North to invade and overflow Israel they would have to possess British controlled Egypt. We know 'Egypt shall not escape', not the King of the South that seems to have vanished.

Egypt shall not escape and there is a specific reason given for it: the King of the North has, at that time, power over the treasures of Egypt.

After 1952 the Americans hoping for a pro-American leadership helped Nasser to power in Egypt, which led to the Suez crisis of 1956. Nasser was also helped by the Soviets. In 1955 Egypt had made a major arms deal with Soviet Union the great power of the Far North. It could be easily seen how the king of the North had power over Egypt. But it was not the end yet.

After the defeat of 1973, the Yom Kippur war with Israel, Egypt turned from the Soviets to America, signing the Camp David Accords and until 2003 receiving the most American military aid other than Israel, outside NATO.

Until 2003 America might well have been said to be the power of the King of the South. After the dissolution of the Soviet Union, there was no effective strong King of the North to oppose the King of the South as Turkey was still part of NATO. Then in 2003 to Egypt’s displeasure, in the most dramatic war of recent years, America and allies under ‘Stormin’ Norman’ pushed into Iraq removing within weeks the regime of Saddam. Since the 2003 Iraq invasion the relations between America and Egypt were strained, and further disrupted by the Obama Administration, who withheld military aid and stated that Egypt was neither “an ally or an enemy” (Wikipedia). From this point, as Russia gained in power in Syria and over Turkey, Russia sought power over Egypt. In 2014 it was reported that Russia was exploiting difficulties in US- Egyptian relations. By 2019 Russia was offering arms deals to Egypt, where the Jerusalem Institute of Strategy and Security called Egypt’s position a ‘Balancing Act’ between Russia and America. jiss.org.il

Unfortunately, no nation can ‘balance’ between two enemy nations in the matter of arms supplies due to security. “In April 2019, U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo warned Egypt against purchasing Russian Sukhoi Su-35, saying "We’ve made clear that if those systems were to be purchased, the CAATSA statute would require sanctions on the [al-Sisi's] regime” Wikipedia.

On 2 June 2020 Foreign Policy reported, The State Department said that Egypt has only given U.S. personnel infrequent access to monitor allegations of human rights abuses, and that Cairo has recently started to buy Russian and French weapons in greater numbers, limiting American visibility.. Limits on U.S. visibility come as the Pentagon considers pulling out of Egypt’s Sinai Peninsula altogether. foreignpolicy.com

In this context the US President Trump has stated an uncomfortable fact, a truth. If Egypt continues to buy Russian arms and America also gives military aid with no strings, it would be as if America was buying the Russian arms themselves. Egypt could balance between the two, perhaps if the American leadership is blind. Already the great power of the Far North, the king of the North, has again their hand over Egypt. The US President Trump exposed it. He would know the width and depth of Russia’s hold. He knows also something else: the direction of a reliable ally cannot be bought. Egypt with a national spirit of the age chose the direction that allowed American power over Egypt. Egypt now chooses, with an anti-American feeling in its leadership to ‘balance’.

This ‘balance’ is precisely the picture Daniel revealed to us of how the world is when the King of the North shall come ‘against him’. For the King of the North to have power over the treasures of Egypt, it requires that the King of the South no longer has power over those same treasures.

The King of the South pushed against the Islamic power of the Ottomans, vanquishing the Ottoman power, only for themselves to be vanquished and Egypt to emerge as a Nation as the prophecy of Daniel required. There is a hiatus. Then again nearly 100 years later the new power of the King of the South pushes at the Islamic power of the Middle East, this time in Iraq (and then into Syria), only to find that they lose their power over Egypt.

But there is more.

Egypt has gold. They have been seeking other nations to invest in its extraction including, from 2017, Russia. miningsee.eu

Egypt also has a place where the treasures of gold are to be located.

“Egypt is developing a major gold mining city in the Suez Canal with the hopes of boosting the mining industry and attracting billions of dollars in foreign investment. The first of its kind in the world, the ‘Gold City’ will be built on 130,000 square meters in the Suez Canal Economic Zone. The Zone was established in early 2017 to attract foreign mining investors.”  austrade.gov.au

The Russians as of 24 May 2018 have an Industrial Zone in the Suez.

The Russian Industrial Zone project originally came out of a 2014 meeting between Presidents Vladimir Putin and Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, in Sochi (Kremlin.ru, August 12, 2014). In truth, Moscow is pursuing a multifaceted synergistic strategy consisting of:..

Military-technical cooperation, including discussions of naval basing arrangements as well as sales of Russian combat helicopters, fighter jets and missile-defense systems (see EDM, February 14, 2018); jamestown.org

Minister of Trade and Industry Tarek Kabil explained that this 50-year agreement will give Russian companies rights to develop a 5.25 million square meter stretch of land in the Suez Canal Economic Zone into an industrial zone for Russian companies that will be built over three phases, giving them a solid, strategically-located base in Egypt to export to the rest of the Middle East and Africa… Kabil told Sputnik news, “2017 it [trade between Egypt and Russia] reached the highest level of trade, excluding the military since the Soviet Union. egypttoday.com

In 28 December 2017 it was reported that Russia has its hand over Egypt and Sudan.

an agreement to share air space in each country and the acquisition of an air base in Egypt and the concurrent discussions with Sudan for a naval base on the Red Sea coast highlight the range of Moscow’s objectives, the capabilities it can increasingly bring to bear in pursuit of those goals, and conversely Western strategic failure…. It also now has for the first time direct reconnaissance over Israeli air space and increasing leverage through its Egyptian and Syrian air bases upon Israel. sldinfo.com

They noted that the air base in Egypt allowed Russia to access Libya, exactly as written in Daniel.

The moves in 2014- 2017 led to the agreement for a Naval base in Sudan as commented on 20 November 2020.

While the world’s attention in recent weeks has been firmly fixed on the United States’ presidential race, Russia under Vladimir Putin has made a number of surprising moves. One was a swift deployment of its peacekeepers to the disputed Nagorno-Karabakh region, putting a stop for now to a bloody border war between Armenia and Azerbaijan. Another move came on 16 November, when Putin approved the opening of Russia’s second forward operating naval facility, this time in Sudan. The (Sudan) agreement specifies Russia’s right to use Sudanese national airspace in support of its activities. Moscow would exercise national jurisdiction over the facility .. Russia assumes responsibly for the modernisation of the Sudanese military and partial defence of air and maritime approaches to Sudan, thus effectively making this African nation Russia’s military ally. lowyinstitute.org

The Sudan base is opposite Mecca on the Red Sea. Sudan is the area of the Cushite peoples – labelled ‘Ethiopia’ in the book of Daniel. It may be indeed that modern Ethiopia will be in steps of the King of the North. But let us note that at the very time that the US leader makes the whole world aware that American aid cannot go to Egypt lest they buy Russian arms with it, while the world is distracted with that US election, Sudan (Cush) agreed to be Russia’s military ally. There is now a King of the North both with power over Egypt’s treasures and who has the Cushites of Sudan likely to follow their military lead.
