Prince Harry Controversy – Christians &the State

12th March 2021, hej

Prince Harry is now making waves with his wife Meghan's statements undermining the Monarchy. But Harry himself was in hot water for his involvement in the American presidential election. Megan now says she regrets speaking out on that matter, due to British backlash. The new backlash to her Oprah interview is political. Is there a lesson here?

We are training in this life in Christ our king, for the highest roles as Royalty and Priests. Not in the modern symbolic role of Royalty, but in the role of lawgivers, judges and rulers. This is explored in our exploration of our role as Kings and preists

In learning the service of Christ the role of duty and humility, we also learn to not become involved in matters of the politics of this age. Paul advises us:

No man that warreth entangleth himself with the affairs of this life; that he may please him who hath chosen him to be a soldier. And if a man also strive for masteries, yet is he not crowned, except he strive lawfully. (2 Timothy 2:4-5)

The soldier of the Roman empire could not become involved in politics. They observed politics and were obedient to the ruler. The Roman Centurions in the Bible also were remarkable as examples of leadership through service, duty and faith!

The centurion answered and said, Lord, I am not worthy that thou shouldest come under my roof: but speak the word only, and my servant shall be healed. For I am a man under authority, having soldiers under me: and I say to this man, Go, and he goeth; and to another, Come, and he cometh; and to my servant, Do this, and he doeth it.
When Jesus heard it, he marvelled, and said to them that followed, Verily I say unto you, I have not found so great faith, no, not in Israel. And I say unto you, That many shall come from the east and west, and shall sit down with Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, in the kingdom of heaven. (Mat 8:8-11)

We are in training now to observe the politics of the world, and watch as out Lord says. Also to make right and true judgement that does not condemn ourselves

Do ye not know that the saints shall judge the world? and if the world shall be judged by you, are ye unworthy to judge the smallest matters? Know ye not that we shall judge angels? how much more things that pertain to this life? (1 Cor 6:2-3)

Into this context let us observe what goes wrong when a Royal tried to interfere in politics. Royals are as Roman centurions of the past, they are also are meant to be loyal to the institution, as we should be in service to Y'shua our King and the Commonwealth of Israel in the embryo form of our brothers and sisters.

Harry added, "This election, I'm not going to be able to vote here in the U.S., but many of you may not know that I haven't been able to vote in the U.K. my entire life," referring to the royal family's need to stay apolitical.

Buckingham Palace said, "We would not comment. The Duke is not a working member of the Royal Family, and any comments he makes are made in a personal capacity."elle.com

Piers Morgan, also shared his opinion, saying: “Prince Harry poking his woke nose into the US election & effectively telling Americans to vote against President Trump is completely unacceptable behaviour for a member of the Royal Family.” news.com.au

We like the royals are meant to be apoltical. We can discern and judge matters pertaining to prophecy and the Kingdom of God, but we are not meant to 'be' the politics or be like Harry was doing to stand as if in office, determining others roles in human politics.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are facing backlash for being political long after they’ve settled in California.

However, the U.K.’s Evening Standard noted that the couple has been accused of interfering in the U.S. presidential election by urging Americans to vote.

Traditionally, the British royals don’t vote in elections, and “The Queen has to remain strictly neutral with respect to political matters," according to the monarch’s website. However, according to People magazine, there is no law forbidding it. foxnews.com

This shows the wisdom of the current Elizabethan monarchy. We likewise may chose to sit out elections as we do not know which 'base' person our Heavenly Father may chose to raise up to perform His will, including to humiliate them as He did to Pharaoh!

For the scripture saith unto Pharaoh, Even for this same purpose have I raised thee up, that I might shew my power in thee, and that my name might be declared throughout all the earth. (Romnans 9:17)

Also there may be unintended consequences. In one opinion Harry and Meghan's interference had an unintended positive effect, for Trump.

Imagine, for a moment, that you were an undecided voter — toying which way to vote, or wondering whether even to bother voting at all — when suddenly you caught sight of Harry and Meghan’s latest, desperate self-promotion exercise.

Beta Male, who turns out to be some kind of ex-member of the British Royal Family, confides that back home in England he was never allowed to vote. “And I care about this, why?” you ask yourself. “Isn’t the whole point about the British Royal Family — whether ex- or current — that we stopped having to listen to them when we gained our independence in 1776?” The ex-prince witters on about how “This November it’s vital that we reject hate speech, misinformation and online negativity.”You recognise this as liberal-leftist code for the usual liberal-leftist preoccupations:breitbart.com

Not content with the political mess already, after two years of planning, without enough thought as to political consequences, Prince Harry and Meghan exposed their inability to achieve Royal service and duty to all on an American talk show. In Christ we are not our own either, what we say and do can reflect on our King.

Daily Mail headlined - Today, Tory MPs led the backlash against Prince Harry and Meghan's 'appalling' accusations

One Tory MP, who did not want to be named, suggested that the couple appeared to be 'telling the Royal Family I've got this nuclear weapon and I'm going to detonate it'.

Conservative MP Andrea Jenkins tweeted: 'Today's Commonwealth Day gives us all another reminder of Her Majesty's long life of service and duty, continuing to work for us all despite her husband being in hospital. Britain stands with our Queen.'

Meanwhile, Fellow MP Michael Fabricant said: 'Every family is dysfunctional one way or another. The holder of every high position will have personal little secrets they want hidden. We are all human. Only HM Queen seems to float selflessly above it all.'

A royal commentator Robert Jobson points out the political issues.

They have both made some very serious allegations and know they Monarchy can't fight back. The entire interview did not respect the Queen. They have attacking the institution of the monarchy. It is not showbiz. This is a gross insult to the British people. Daily Mail

Thankfully no matter what we do, and our lack of respect and failure in service our Lord and king remains faithful.

Even British Republican Brendan O Neil believed that 'completely out of order' 'assault on an institution' obsession with self reflection. 'The Queen is the opposite in service to the constitutional role'. He pointed out that Meghan had been welcomed until she became 'politically outspoken' used the 'platform to lecture us about mental health, feminism and the environment' while jetting about to holiday homes. Which he described as hypocrisy.

As we suspect that the Queen's miraculous coming to power and her long life to lead in an era of stability for 70 years, as the longest reign of a European monarch, will mean that the actions of the Queen of Sheba are to be repeated in Queen Elizabeth (Eli-sheba) coming to Christ as King of the Jews. Christ calls the Queen of Sheba the Queen of the South,

The queen of the south shall rise up in the judgment with the men of this generation, and condemn them: for she came from the utmost parts of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon; and, behold, a greater than Solomon is here. (Luke 11:31)

The true servant of Christ, knows that they do not become slaves of political fashions of this age, including self aggrandisement of victimhood as Harry and Meghan have done, but we are mindful of being brought by Christ as King and High Priest to stand nigh, in the very presence of the King of the Universe.

Wherefore remember, that ye being in time past Gentiles in the flesh, who are called Uncircumcision by that which is called the Circumcision in the flesh made by hands; That at that time ye were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope, and without God in the world: But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ. For he is our peace, who hath made both one, and hath broken down the middle wall of partition between us; (Ephesians 2:11-14)

That position is one of hope, peace and grace where there is no more complaining or bitterness. Harry and Meghan would have done better to have privately spoken to the powerful Monarchy and humbly sought help rather than to Oprah, who has no power to help and the people who in three days will have forgotten it as yesterday's sensation. In a greater parallel we as the servants of Christ as citizens of the Commonwealth, have access to the Ear of the King of Universe who has all power to change our lives, in a helpful loyal household of fellowcitizens, for the very best.

And came and preached peace to you which were afar off, and to them that were nigh. For through him we both have access by one Spirit unto the Father. Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellowcitizens with the saints, and of the household of God; (Ephesians 2:17-19)
