Greta Thunberg: New Age of Sail

31st July 2019, hej

Swedish activist Greta Thunberg exposed all the CO2 hypocrisy by refusing to travel by air. She has been offered a ride to America over the Atlantic in a racing Yacht.

Will this activism lead to a new age of sail? Is wind power and sail the transport of the future? Is this development of use for the coming Kingdom of God?

In the Kingdom of God, after the battle for Jerusalem, it is prophesied that all people will travel up to Jerusalem every year.

It shall come to pass, that every one that is left of all the nations which came against Jerusalem shall even go up from year to year to worship the King, the LORD of hosts, and to keep the feast of tabernacles. (Zechariah 14:16)

There will be a Highway for road travel,

An highway shall be there, and a way, and it shall be called The way of holiness; the unclean shall not pass over it; but it shall be for those: the wayfaring men, though fools, shall not err therein.(Isaiah 35:8)

That the Highway is literal is shown by the fact it connects places,

The LORD shall utterly destroy the tongue of the Egyptian sea; and with his mighty wind shall he shake his hand over the river, and shall smite it in the seven streams, and make men go over dryshod. And there shall be an highway for the remnant of his people, which shall be left, from Assyria; like as it was to Israel in the day that he came up out of the land of Egypt. (Isaiah 11:15-16)
In that day shall there be a highway out of Egypt to Assyria, and the Assyrian shall come into Egypt, and the Egyptian into Assyria, and the Egyptians shall serve with the Assyrians. In that day shall Israel be the third with Egypt and with Assyria, even a blessing in the midst of the land: (Isaiah 19:23-24)

The Suez canal is closed up and a Highway put in. But what about those who travel from over seas? Will there be air travel or will it by sail?

Greta Thunberg says you're the problem if you take a plane anywhere. She is exposing hypocrisy of all others, as she acts according to her beliefs. Why? It's not just the plane emissions of CO2 way up in the atmosphere and into the jet stream where there are no trees, it's the infrastructure, the huge energy intensive supply lies from supplying food, to refuelling from oil source to use, to maintenance, to manufacture, the airport building, huge glazed boxes with poor thermal performance, to people picking up others from flights, to the take away food sold which has huge impact.

Whereas there is no conclusive proof that increases in CO2 due to the small segment of human emissions in the overall carbon cycle has significant effects in the climate, the massive engine power required at takeoff produces, in addition to CO2, significant fine particulate matter that when inhaled reduces life expectancy downwind of airports. We can also be sure that the best way of the perfect future of a restored Eden is unlikely to be heat and waste to the Jet Stream!

With people such as Greta raised up there is a huge incentive to reduce use of aircraft in favour of sail. It is also well known that CO2 emissions for cargo transport including by sea are large, and 'ethical' buyers who wish to reduce their CO2 emissions are seeking goods that are transported by sail. The early part of the 20th century until 1950 saw ships with large area of sail transporting large cargos at speed. Famously the ship Pamir was the last in 1949.

The Australian grain trade was one and it was on this route that Finnish ship-owner Gustaf Erikson made his name. He invested in second-hand barques or 'windjammers' and eventually became the owner of the world's last fleet of commercial sailing ships. The voyages from South Australian wheat ports on the Yorke Peninsula to Europe received much media coverage. In Britain, people bet on which ship would make the fastest voyage of the year, coining the expression 'Grain Races'. The windjammers Passat and Pamir left South Australia's Port Victoria on 28 May 1949 loaded with grain for Europe. They were the last commercial sailing ships to ply one of the world's longest trade routes. researchdata.ands.org.au

Recently sail and wind power has returned as commercially viable.

The Avontuur, whose name means “adventure” in Dutch, is the newest and biggest member of a growing fleet of cargo ships that combine centuries-old technology - sails and masts -with modern inventions like solar panels and battery generators. The first is to capitalize on the rising consumer demand for products with little to no carbon footprint.

After all, how good for the planet are organic blueberries from Chile if shipping them to New York means burning diesel bunker fuel or aviation fuel? “More people want this to be shipped to their doorsteps in a sustainable way, and not the traditional way,” Bockermann told Mashable. “The only way to combine this organic produce and the consumer demand is with a cleaner way of transport.” mashable.com

European and U.S. tech companies, including one backed by airplane maker Airbus, are pitching futuristic sails to help cargo ships harness the free and endless supply of wind power. ..Denmark's A.P. Moller-Maersk , the world's biggest shipping company, is using its Maersk Pelican oil tanker to test Norsepower's 30 meter (98 foot) deck-mounted spinning columns, which convert wind into thrust phys.org

Commerical flight was predicted in the Bible as a feature of the people of the far Isles at the time the Redeemer comes to Zion (Isaiah 59:20)

Who are these that fly as a cloud, and as the doves to their windows? Surely the isles shall wait for me, and the ships of Tarshish first to bring thy sons from far, their silver and their gold with them, unto the name of the LORD thy God, and to the Holy One of Israel, because he hath glorified thee. (Isaiah 60:8-9)

In the ancient world they understood the homing pigeon and used them. The word there for window, is the Hebrew word for 'lattice' and from the word 'to lurk, lay in wait' and it is also used for pigeon holes, where the birds lay in wait until they fly. There are now so many commercial aircraft that go from their 'pigeon-holes' and return, that they form a 'cloud'.

Of note is that those that fly are specifically related to the Isles, and the ships of Tarshish. The commerce of flying, allowing connectivity of people, has increased trade by ship. Weighty goods are not best transported by aircraft. The quote suggests that the sons of Zion are bought by the ships of Tarshish. This is intriguing as Tyre, Zidon and Palestine when the captivity of Jerusalem returns shall sell Jews to the Grecians.

The children also of Judah and the children of Jerusalem have ye sold unto the Grecians (Heb. literally 'sons of Yavan'), that ye might remove them far from their border. (Joel 3:6)

The Greeks are great shipping owners, controlling about 20% of the global maritime trade. thenationalherald.com

Why ships and not planes? There is no doubt whatsoever far more people may be carried on one ship than a plane. In addition there is a clue. Jerusalem is the heart of Zion and nobody knows of any rivers there - yet it is written it will be a place of broad rivers and streams!

Look upon Zion, the city of our solemnities: thine eyes shall see Jerusalem a quiet habitation, a tabernacle that shall not be taken down; not one of the stakes thereof shall ever be removed, neither shall any of the cords thereof be broken. But there the glorious LORD will be unto us a place of broad rivers and streams; wherein shall go no galley with oars, neither shall gallant ship pass thereby. For the LORD is our judge, the LORD is our lawgiver, the LORD is our king; he will save us. Thy tacklings are loosed; they could not well strengthen their mast, they could not spread the sail: then is the prey of a great spoil divided; the lame take the prey. And the inhabitant shall not say, I am sick: the people that dwell therein shall be forgiven their iniquity. (Isaiah 33:20-24)

There will be geographical changes with the raising up of Jerusalem in the earthquake predicted by Zechariah, and the closing of the tongue of the Egyptian sea to make a Highway could open the Jordan, Dead Sea to Eliat as a river. The context clearly indicates that the ships with oars and Gallant (powerful) ships will not be able to pass, as they are dis-empowered and their stolen goods given to the lame! It is written of the ships of Tarshish that;

“her merchandise and her hire shall be holiness to the LORD: it shall not be treasured nor laid up; for her merchandise shall be for them that dwell before the LORD, to eat sufficiently, and for durable clothing.” (Isaiah 23:18)

Is Isaiah 33 indicating that the access for the people to the feast in Jerusalem could be via shipping on a broad river? It is entirely consistent with Ezekiel's description of the river which is to come from out of the new temple, a description that assures us that it bears no similarity to any temple built before.

Afterward he brought me again unto the door of the house; and, behold, waters issued out from under the threshold of the house eastward: for the forefront of the house stood toward the east, and the waters came down from under from the right side of the house, at the south side of the altar. Then brought he me out of the way of the gate northward, and led me about the way without unto the utter gate by the way that looks eastward; and, behold, there ran out waters on the right side. And when the man that had the line in his hand went forth eastward, he measured a thousand cubits, and he brought me through the waters; the waters were to the ankles. Again he measured a thousand, and brought me through the waters; the waters were to the knees. Again he measured a thousand, and brought me through; the waters were to the loins. Afterward he measured a thousand; and it was a river that I could not pass over: for the waters were risen, waters to swim in, a river that could not be passed over. And he said unto me, Son of man, hast thou seen this? Then he brought me, and caused me to return to the brink of the river. Now when I had returned, behold, at the bank of the river were very many trees on the one side and on the other. Then said he unto me, These waters issue out toward the east country, and go down into the desert, and go into the sea: which being brought forth into the sea, the waters shall be healed. (Ezekiel 47:1-8)

What if the river was functional as well as being symbolic and beautiful? What if those from the far Isles travelled once again in great ships powered by sail? What if they controlled, not the climate, but the weather?

They that go down to the sea in ships, that do business in great waters; These see the works of the LORD, and his wonders in the deep. For he commands, and raises the stormy wind, which lifts up the waves thereof. They mount up to the heaven, they go down again to the depths: their soul is melted because of trouble. They reel to and fro, and stagger like a drunken man, and are at their wits' end. Then they cry unto the LORD in their trouble, and he brings them out of their distresses. He makes the storm a calm, so that the waves thereof are still. Then are they glad because they be quiet; so he brings them unto their desired haven. Oh that men would praise the LORD for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men! Let them exalt him also in the congregation of the people, and praise him in the assembly of the elders. (Psalm 107:23-32)
