37. Flight in the Bible

Someone whose 'faith' was inspired by an agnostic Einstein in his latter years, once asked me if the Bible predicted flight, as if it could not have, as who could predict that! When I went and looked I found the Bible had not only predicted flight but flight in specific key matters of the latter days era. The most astounding was it predicts the very first use of rapidly developing fighter planes in the First World War, that defended Jerusalem and ensured that Allenby achieved victory there against the Ottomans in 1918.

I go into detail Flight in the Bible

38. Internet and images

A specific prophecy that made no sense until very recently, is evidence for the reliablity of Bible Prophecy.

I grew up in the era before Personal Computers. I remember seeing the first PC at school, a Microbee. I remember the school's first photo copier. I remember when 'mobile phones' were only mobile because they were in cars. I met the internet when researching. Then you would wait 2 weeks for a book to come in, but it was just beginning you could find some current research work published on the internet. But the most remarkable advance is the world-wide distribution of picture phones. Even the poorest may access images from about the world and be connected. Even Refugees complain of not being able to plug in and charge their 'smart' phones.

Consider

For the day of the LORD of hosts shall be upon every one that is proud and lofty, and upon every one that is lifted up; and he shall be brought low: And upon all the high mountains, and upon all the hills that are lifted up, And upon every high tower, and upon every fenced wall, And upon all the ships of Tarshish, and upon all pleasant pictures. And the loftiness of man shall be bowed down, and the haughtiness of men shall be made low: and the LORD alone shall be exalted in that day. And the idols he shall utterly abolish. And they shall go into the holes of the rocks, and into the caves of the earth, for fear of the LORD, and for the glory of his majesty, when he ariseth to shake terribly the earth. (Isaiah 2:12-19)

The term in bold is "pictures of desire", the fundamental motivation of consumerism. In the modern world pride of corporations is shown in tall towers, there are incredible numbers of ship movements due to global trade for things desired (not needed) and all this is now being controlled by people using Smart Phones, I-Pads and computers connected to the internet. All of trade, from the smallest transaction in cash got from a machine to the largest stock exchange takeover, is now performed on the devices with 'pleasant pictures'. Yet few consider that in a moment the plug can be pulled.

But there more evidence the Bible predicted and understood the unique things of our age!

Behold, he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him, and they also which pierced him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him. Even so, Amen. (Revelation 1:7)

The only way every eye could see Jesus is that they have access to a device that allows them to see someone in real time, live on the other side of the world. In addition even the very poor in some of the remotest places can see someone live, if not on TV on a phone. An example is world cup soccer in 2014, where over 1 Billion are estimated to have watched live some portion. For the Euro Soccer UEFA of 2016 a staggering 5 billion people watched live on television some part of the 24 teams in 51 matches. Nobody could have predicted this, it could not have been conceived by anyone. Imagine the King of the Jews on the mountains of Israel, how many could tune-in to see? The events of Revelation 1:7 will occur before the earthquake of Isaiah 2. Two sections of text one Jewish one Christian together showing an accurate picture of things specific to this age. Chance? Who would be bold enough to say that either prediction couldn't happen, when the conditions required of 'pleasant pictures' so 'every eye can see' which none could predict 2,000 years ago, already have come into existence. Would a global earthquake 'pull the plug' on the pictures people care about associated with merchants? You and I both know the answer.

39. Family History

The huge body of Family History research now existing is strong evidence for the truth of the Bible. All family histories share three things in common. Firstly, these histories are of necessity public because people are aware that their ancestors are also many other people's ancestors. Secondly, they are all reliant on written records of the individuals in a nation's history. Thirdly, they have stopped at certain people only for want of earlier written documentation and lack of certain knowledge, but otherwise would keep going back in history. The family history in the Bible has a lot of authentic detail and is consistent in that detail from beginning to the end. It would be impossible to imagine a history over so many years without patterns, self congratulation and fundamental contradictions. The genalogies of the Bible cannot be separated from the core theme of the covenants and miracles, all leading to Christ.
