Ever since Lebanon let in the PLO in 1970 after Jordan expelled them, they have suffered. Since Hezbollah was formed to fight for the PLO they have been consumed in loss and trouble. I remember the news would have the Lebanese flag with fire in the cedar tree. Ex-French mandate Lebanon was designed as refuge for Christians, but most Christians have had to flee since Israel, who stood for them against the PLO Islamists, left Lebanon in 1985. Hezbollah's sole aim is to destroy Israel, but it has destroyed Lebanon.
Hezbollah had every intent to blow up Israel's main port, in exactly the same way as their own port has been blown up.
Nasrallah threatened to blow up Israel with same chemicals as Beirut blast
Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah threatened in the past to destroy Israel by causing a massive explosion in the port of Haifa using ammonia tanks that he said would be like a “nuclear” explosion. In addition Hezbollah allegedly sought to acquire ammonium nitrate via Syria since 2009 and tried to infiltrate the agriculture ministry in Lebanon to do so, according to leaked diplomatic cables.
February 16, 2016 Nasrallah also said that ammonia is stored in Haifa and that there are 15,000 tonnes of gas Haifa and that explosions there might cause the deaths of tens of thousands of people.
Nasrallah told his audience that with several missiles his terror group could set off the ammonia with the same impact of a nuclear weapon. He said he had consulted experts and that 800,000 people would be affects and tens of thousands killed. In February 2017 he made another speech mentioning ammonia stored in Haifa.
Moreover there is a ship that brings the ammonia, and distributed it to the Haifa facility and I said that the Haifa facility is the equivalent of a nuclear bomb, but the ship that carries ammonia to occupied Palestine is like five nuclear bombs,” Nasrallah said in 2017.
The footage of the speeches which has come to light after the explosion of ammonium nitrate that was stored improperly for years in the port of Beirut suggests that Hezbollah studied the use of ammonia as an accelerant that would multiply exponentially the power of its missiles. Not only was such a valuable cargo seized, it was stored for 6 years but it was not sold or moved. A busy waterfront would mean stores would be in demand. "It was estimated to be worth $700,000 by 2013 prices.. Among the still-unanswered questions: who paid for the ammonium nitrate and did they ever seek to reclaim the cargo when the Rhosus was impounded? And if not, why not? across 10 countries in search of the original ownership of this 2,750-tonne consignment instead revealed an intricate tale of missing documentation, secrecy and a web of small, obscure companies that span the globe" ZeroHedge.

As of Tuesday evening, Israel issued no comments on the explosion in Beirut.
As Israel denied involvement and seems this was not on their mind or indeed such a civilian toll, it follows it was indeed the accident they say. It may yet turn out that independent experts might note characteristics of the blast which may indicate there was more there than simple stores of Ammonium Nitrate. In any case it is highly likely that Trump should know to wait and we may note he is very careful say the assessment is from un-named others. In matters of counter-intelligence the role of obscuring and revealing is a fine line. Trump might not wish to say it was a weapons depot, but what he did say serves as 2 fold purpose of bringing up the idea of a weapons depot there and also leave doubt in those Arabs who readily believe a lie and those who maintain they heard jets over (atlanticcouncil.org). Then too perhaps some in Hezbollah may think it was sabotage, and that may not sit well with Hezbollah who fear those who may be a spy among them.

The bigger picture - why now?
In the latter days Tyre and Sidon in Southern Lebanon, are allied with Palestine against Jerusalem. In fulfillmint of prophecy since 1968 the South of Lebanon was, and is, the area of the PLO.
I will also gather all nations, and will bring them down into the valley of Jehoshaphat, and will plead with them there for my people and for my heritage Israel, whom they have scattered among the nations, and parted my land. Juxtaposed with this hate a a prophecy of the extradrainary picture of Jews living in safety on the mountains of Israel-

If Hezbollah is strong, armed and dangerous in Lebanon, how then is there any safety for Jews adjacent in Trump Heights, the Golan? but if now is the time to favour Zion and those Jews who dwell on the mountains of Israel as they grow in numbers, so all nations come against Zion - we see now Hezbollah all but destroyed. We see also the hearts failing of those who think the PLO wonderful, so affliates such as Fatah and Hamas also are weakend.

None who try to attack Israel now established since 1948 will prosper. Egypt tried it. Jordan tried it. Syria tried it and lost the Golan, then continued to hate Israel and was destroyed from within.
