7) Dramatic Years 1947-1948

There was an event preceding the re-birth of God’s nation, the most significant of all events related to Israel and our hope of redemption. Israel is a key part of God’s salvation through the promise made to Abraham and the prophets

On the 7th February in 1947, the British proposed the dividing of Palestine and the establishment of a Jewish state.

On the 12th February in 1947, just five days later, a Russian artist, sitting at his window in Russia saw an amazing sight and was able to record this in a painting which was to become a Russian stamp.

A huge meteor of iron, weighing 28 tons fell in Russia, like a bright star, and as bright as the sun. It created a large crater. Its estimated size when it entered the atmosphere has been calculated at over 900 tons.

Thou saw till that a stone was cut out without hands, which smote the image upon his feet that were of iron and clay, and brake them to pieces.

While negotiations were taking place for the establishment of a Jewish homeland Russia was the recipient of a huge iron meteor seen by many people in Russia. What is its significance? It definitely draws our attention to Russia, its association with Israel and the feet of iron and clay of Daniel's image and of Rome the 'iron' power of the ancient world.
